i was invited to create the south - south east exhibition's windows. yaaay! what fun is that!
The concept behind the window design was very much associated with the exhibition's main issue of searching for the south - south east fashion design identity, but i wanted to broaden the horisons and asked myself: who we are as designers? what is our role in the world? how are we responding to the world trends and global issues? are we on the right side? what do we want to say?

So I set three window displays as the answer - or better put: as a thought - to my questions. The first window presents a beautiful cream white Farandula coat standing on the pile of old and worn clothes. And at the back there's a picture of a famous NY disaster. The white coat represents hope. I believe there's still some hope in fashion design, although, when we look at it as fashion, it's falling apart. Fashion as we know it is fading away and some other forms of it are coming our way. We have to join forces and design the changes, goddamit! Are we designers or are we followers!!??

The second display features a set of three outfits and stacks of fashion magazines, old and new. It questions fashion and marketing. As we know these two are well connected and it's a rotten bussines, that is reserved only for the big corporations. Young and independent designers rearly get featured in fashion magazines, well, beacause they don't pay for it, ha ha!

The third display is about the education. Designers should educate themselves all the time. And I believe we should always be able to wellcome new stuff but at the same time we should respect tradition and craft. Nevertheless, we shouldn't forget that fashion design is fun, too! Kiss:)
